A mother leaves her children in a hot car while in a trial for the same reason

What would you call a mother who leaves her children in a hot car, while being in court for the same case? This sounds more than strange to me. Seriously. Didn’t she know that her kids were inside? Or, maybe, she wasn’t aware of the potential consequences? What would she do if her kids died of a heatstroke? Luckily, by-passers alerted the police who came to the rescue (they could also call a locksmith service in Virginia, but that would probably cost money).

These are only a few questions that came to my mind, as soon as I read the story. In my opinion, this woman can hardly be called a mother and the sentence of the court is really a right one, although personally I would sentence her to years of imprisonment for child abuse and inadequate treatment! Well, this may sound too harsh, but I just cannot have any other opinion, as I’m really shocked by such a horrible situation!

Life is unpredictable and everything can happen – you may take prescription drugs that slow down your actions and attention, you may lose a close person and feel depressed, you may be fired from the job you loved… BUT! None of these situations can be an excuse for leaving your child locked in a vehicle, thus subjecting him/her to death!

A heatstroke is nowadays one of the most widespread causes of death in kids of all ages. When a body is subjected to high temperatures, without any access to water and fresh air, the cells, as well as internal body organs, get damaged. If not prevented on time, the result can be lethal.

A well-known fact is that kids’ thermoregulatory mechanisms are less efficient as compared to those of adults. As a result, they may face a heatstroke several times faster than adults. This is one of the reasons of why many children die when left inside vehicles for a long time.

According to recent estimations, over 40 children die in hot vehicles each year in the US only (not to mention other countries!), being trapped inside and having no chances to get outside! Just imagine their feelings and behavior! This is really a crime that has to be prosecuted, especially if this happens again and again!

Unfortunately, even the most responsible parents may sometimes leave their kids peacefully sleeping at the backseat of their car “just for a second”, or a young baby sitter may not realize the consequences of this behavior, which can, meanwhile, result in a serious child’s injury or even death. But when this happens for the second time, this is definitely neither an accident nor a mistake – this is irresponsibility and child abuse that should not be left unnoticed!

So, if you are a parent, when you get out of your vehicle next time - check twice whether there are kids at the back seat. This is obligatory, irrespective of the fact if you are a parent, a babysitter or a caregiver. Keep in mind that a car is not a play area or a place to rest and sleep – this may become a real tragedy under certain circumstances!

Use Presence Security App to Enhance the Protection of Your Home With Your Old iPhone

presence security app

People Power, a reputable software company, has presented a new Presence Security application that helps transform old smartphones into wireless tools that help enhance home security. The project has recently been presented on Indiegogo and has already won thousands of positive customer reviews.

Presence Security helps turn old and unused iPhones and Android devices into ordinary security cameras, which do not only ensure the visibility of specific areas in your home, but also function as extra house sensors that can monitor things and processes that take place in the house. The security system is available with a set of wireless sensors, which a user can personally manage, directly from the application installed in a smartphone.

The system is made up of a motion sensor, 2 entry sensors, a window sticker and a gateway sensor. It also combines entry, motion, humidity and touch sensors and comes equipped with a customizable alert function. For the convenience of each user, it is possible to increase the amount of sensors. This, however, requires an enhanced package that involves additional touch, water, temperature, smoke, fire control and other options.

Regardless the number of sensors installed, it is possible to take control over them by means of checking video records and streams from smartphones that function as cameras. Apart from protecting your home from undesirable intruders, this powerful tool makes it possible to monitor ordinary everyday situations, such as taking control of your children, pets, domestic appliances, guests, house workers etc.

On top of that, the People Power Company has recently announced the optimization of the Presence Security system. The company has made it possible to organize smart communities by allowing users to share all kinds of alerts from one home to other trusted people, such as friends, family members, neighbors etc. Today, the system is able to use the unlimited number of cameras, alerts, sensors, friends etc. Smartphones used for the purpose of detecting all kinds of vibrations, movements, temperature and humidity control, may also function as a siren to notify about the intrusion, fire or flood alert etc. This enhances the overall protection of homes and belongings kept inside.

The cost of a starter Presence Security package ranges from $29 and up to $ 399 depending upon the options and features provided. It does not imply any additional monthly fees, which is very convenient for all users. All in all, Presence Security is a superb up-to-date technology that delivers ultimate home protection at reasonable cost!

Do you really need a personal safe?

Do you really need a personal safe? Before you can give a good answer to this question, take your time to think over your situation, financial abilities and the overall cost of the valuables you keep at home and wish to secure. The checklist should include expensive watches, flatware and silver, jewelry, cash, documents, stock papers, heirlooms, antique and pricey collections, electronic devices, securities, weapons, paperwork etc. Try to estimate your possessions to find out whether a personal safe is a worthy investment or not.

Apart from appraising your valuables, focus on those issues that may increase the risk of thefts or accidents in your house. Thus, if you have a bad neighborhood, for example, or you have to go on business quite often leaving your house for a long time, then opting for a personal safe will be a reasonable solution you will never regret later, so as knowing a reliable emergency locksmith service like this one.

Some people do not consider a safe a necessity and realize that they had to buy one when it is already too late for that.  Once a friend of mine who earned himself a good living, told me a story I cannot forget. Two years ago he moved into a new house and was just about to insure it and the belongings inside.

A few days later, when he was in his office, the fire accident occurred and all his belongings were completely lost. That was a real disaster! He had to spend a huge sum of money to repair the house, but he couldn’t restore all those valuables he had before. Luckily, he left some of his valuable possessions at his mother’s house when he moved to a new place. Right after the accident, he decided to purchase a personal safe to keep the rest of his valuables there.

Such situations happen quite often and most people regret that they have not bought reliable safes before. Your possessions may be lost or stolen or some accident may happen to them – it is impossible to foresee such situations! So, if you have valuable items or documents at home or in your office, think about investing in a quality safe.

Shopping For a Personal Safe: How Much Does It Cost?
Basically, the cost of a safe depends upon its characteristics, such as the size and material, the type of locks installed, the security level and special features etc. Different accessories like shelves, drawers, extra security features will surely add to the bill.

Some safes have specific fire ratings that signify the amount of time the safe will be exposed to fire in case of an accident before it will completely burn. The hire the fire rating of a device is, the more costly it becomes. The same is about anti-theft features. Safes that ensure the highest level of security are more expensive as compared to other models.

Thus, a small portable safe or a gun safe will cost you over $50. The price of larger units with advanced anti-theft protection that have fire- and water-resistant characteristics and high-safety locks may range between $300 and $2500 depending upon the set of characteristics.

When you shop for a large free-standing safe, wall or floor safe, you should consider extra installation expenses as well. Thus, most homeowners have to spend between $500 and $800 for installation and settings adjustment. Good luck with your choice!
